About
Born on the edge of land and sea in Northern California, Sara Shoemaker Lind has always enjoyed exploring dynamic environments. Her focus on color, form, and design in the photographic medium gained momentum at an early age and has been sustained with constant passion. Sara’s degree in Fine Art- Photography from Stanford University followed by time spent at Brooks Institute’s UnderSea Program was a strong formal foundation for a unique career.

After completing the Rolex Nikon Our World-Underwater Scholarship in 1998, she started her own company, Goldcowrie Productions, in Santa Monica, California. Sara worked on film and video productions with an underwater specialty. Ultimately, she chose to pursue still images exclusively. When she returned to Northern California in 2004, Sara Shoemaker Lind Photography debuted.

Based in California, Sara’s projects have taken her on professional journeys around the globe and included work above and below the water for clients GE, PADI, Monterey Bay Aquarium, National Geographic, OUTSIDE magazine, and World Wildlife Fund among others. She has participated in artist residencies, published extensively, garnered international recognition with competitions and awards, and exhibited her work in gallery shows.

Sara also contributes her creative efforts to charitable organizations with a marine conservation and education priority. She is an active member of The Explorers Club, Professional Photographers of America and sits on the Board of the Our World-Underwater Scholarship Society.
